What Our Happy Travelers Say About Us!
At Pride of Africa Adventures and Safaris, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional safari experiences. Here’s what our travelers have to say:
EXCELLENT Based on 81 reviews Okew Othach2025-02-21Verified Fantastic Safari with Pride of Africa Adventures Traveling with Pride of Africa was like traveling with your local best friend. From the first get in touch moment I felt totally taken care of. Steven is an amazing tour operator, answering to questions quickly, precisely and at every time of the day. We were in good hands from first moment we arrived in Kenya up to Tanzania. Of course we saw the Big 5! Be aware, booking a budget safari means that the daily plan can sometime change without notice but they make sure that everything is done, just may be not on the scheduled day. Great job! I recommend this company to any other tourists who wants to experience East Africa Maurice A2025-02-20Verified Excellent Trip I did a 7 days safari tour with my family after being offered by Pride of Africa Adventure and Safaris. The trip was so good that I must recommend this company for a wonderful job.We saw many animals interestingly the big Five Animals. We also visited Maasai village as well as having boat ride at Lake Naivasha.Maasai arts also good. Alex M2025-02-20Verified What an adventure Top notch services from the team. The safari was a bit short but we were not disapointed by the organizers. Thanks to the entire staff of pride of africa for making a wonderful trip for us. Brenda O2025-01-21Verified Nothing More Just an Amazing exeprience at Maasai Mara It was an amazing experience, especially at the beginning of the year. Definitely, the Agency I would approach any time I am planning the safari, do not need to do much as I have all the planning done for me and friends, just a few alignments here and there and we are good for the trip. Thank you Pride Of Africa! mariano g2025-01-06Verified Feeling deceived Services contracted: Fully customized private safaris, 4 DAYS AMBOSELI, TSAVO WEST & EAST and 9 DAYS SAMBURU, BUFFALO SPRINGS, ABERDARE, LAKE NAIVASHA, LAKE NAKURU, HELL'S GATE & MASAI MARA.First of all, I want to put on record the positive aspects:- Smooth communication with quick responses from Stephen during pre-hire planning.- Willingness to adapt the tours and accommodations to our requirements.- Experienced and qualified drivers.I am writing this review 5 months after the safari because in those months Stephen from Pride of Africa assured me that he was looking into ways to compensate for the problems I describe below.- Problems with payments. I paid a deposit by wire transfer to secure the booking. The balance was to be paid upon arrival in Nairobi in USD, but most of the banknotes I had with me were refused. They said they would only accept freshly printed notes, even though the older notes I had were perfectly legal. They also refused to accept payment by credit card or wire transfer. We spent hours at the ATMs until we had reached the maximum on my cards. The driver offered to make up the difference in cash and accept the payment via bank transfer later.- Non-compliance with the programme. The visit to Samburu Park was cancelled, thus saving the entrance fees, but we have not been refunded. The safari in Aberdare Park was limited to 1 hour in the cafeteria of the Ark Tree Lodge, despite the fact that we had indicated from the beginning that we were not interested in visiting the lodge but wanted to do some of the trekking to the numerous waterfalls in the park. At Lake Naivasha the tickets for the boat trip and visit of the island turned out not to be included despite both activities being included in the programme (the justification was that the programme included the entrance fees to the parks, but that Lake Naivasha was not a ‘park’ (??).- Non-compliance with the Masai Mara programme. It included 4 game drives in the park: the first in the afternoon on day one after the scheduled lunch at the lodge where we were to arrive at noon, 2 full-day safaris and the last one in the morning before the scheduled departure for Nairobi at noon. However, the driver delayed leaving the previous park (Lake Nakuru) and made several stops along the way, meaning we arrived too late for the first safari. On the last day, the safari was reduced to a drive between the entrance gate near our lodge and the exit gate closest to the road to Nairobi, in a manoeuvre by the driver to save on entrance fees by justifying at the checkpoints that we had only crossed the park on our way from the lodge (we even went through the checkpoints with the roof closed so as not to look like we were coming from a game drive). We reported these irregularities to Stephen before we left Kenya and asked for a refund of the unpaid entrance fees, but since then he has only postponed the resolution (claiming that he had to complain to the driver) and has avoided refunding the money to date. Alicia E2024-09-09Verified Totally scammed by a company that outsources services At first Stephen responded quickly and provided me with an itinerary according to my requirements and clearly stating what was included and what was not and the price.I had asked for other budgets and made my choice in hierarchizing the number of proposed safaris, room for myself and accommodations in environments within nature. All this in the month of January I also contracted with them 8 days in Uganda (which they subcontracted to another company)After I have sent the signal, I have questions about the trip to which Stephen does not answer directly and that begins my distrust when I see that there is no transparency and clarity in communication on his part.Following a request for a letter of invitation from both countries to apply for a visa, I learn from the Ugandan agency that my room was to be shared. It wasn't me we agreed to. Words come and go, 2 weeks after I leave for Nairobi.I don't know what happened between them but in Uganda I was always in a private room.I go to detail what was set out in the itinerary and I didn't have:- pre and post accommodation. I had pre but not post. I insisted on that, it should have been in Uganda (I paid Pride of Africa, so they had it serious to have arranged them) but the lodging had to be paid for by me- charged me $ 30 for the transaction of the signal, which should have been due to them, (this is recorded in the conversation of our whatsapps) , already having paid my share hereMost seriously. They took 4 safaris...4!!! One in Masai Mara, one in the morning in Nakuru, one in the afternoon and a night safari in Amboselli (which was the only night there was) Instead, on the day we were supposed to have safari in the afternoon and evening, we are taken back to Naivasha and left in a lodging at 13:30 (a place with no park or anything to do), "to rest". I'm not going to Jenya from Uruguay for 7 days to rest, of course. The day he goes to Hells Gate, they took us 1 hour by bike, they didn’t take us to 1 of the parts that if it’s allowed to go in the same Devil’s Throat, many people would take them there) and then drive to Amboselli to get there and do nothing again. When I wrote to Steohen demanding these things, he always told me about others and never replied. I told myself I felt ripped off. The group was 7 people we had hired in different agencies. The itinerary responded to what they had but my itinerary was different-The first 2 days I was put to sleep in a room with someone else, it was not agreed. It's not my first experience on safaris. The animals will be warned very early in the morning, 6:30, and in the evening. We always left after 8 am and long before sunset we had returned to the rooms, greatly reducing the times of the safaris. That also greatly decreased the chances of seeing animalsdrivers are drivers, they are not guides. They don’t explain anything to you and they don’t show anything that doesn’t break your eyes. By the way, they're not nice at all in the deal either.- carry radio in the car to communicate with other cars in case of seeing animals. One of the safaris came out with the radio without working.Last day, we were supposed to have a picnic lunch on the way but we went with a jerk and he dropped us right off at the airport. - the lunch pack, the times we had it, in my case that I am vegetarian, consisted of 2 loaves that inside had, literally, a very small slice of tomato cut thin and an equal of cucumber, plus an egg (sometimes) and a bananaWhile this and eating rice and beans every day is not what troubled me. Like I said before, I don't go to Kenya for food or to rest.- the only place we had lodging in nature was at Amboselly Niati Safari Camp. A very beautiful setting with the stunning view of Kilimanjaro.... full of bad cockroaches that walked in the bed, by the toothbrush...tremendousI repeat, all very cordial with Stephen until the sign. When I told him what was not agreed, especially my insistence was with the safaris he told me that because I was the only one who complained. Stephen was complaining, I told you at the time and I'm telling you around here too, because I was the only one who had another itinerary. I should be in another group, or you should have made it clear to me that there were changes giving me money back or repairing somehow. That's why I told you I felt ripped off and I still feel ripped off.I am a born traveler and have been to Africa several times, in conclusion it is the worst company I have ever hired. I have my detailed itinerary and all the whatsapps available to anyone who wants them. cesarin2024-05-08Verified My dream became true, txs We made 5 days saffary, massai mara was amazing, saw lyons at 1 meter distance,Hippos and much more, our guide Derrick was great helpful and kindles .all was great Susan S2024-03-19Verified WORST African Safari Tour Company EVER!!!!!! WORST African Tour company EVER! They lied to us, cheated us and scammed us. We have been on 4 African safaries over the last 8 years and know the difference between good and bad. When we arrived in Nairobi they brought us to their office and managed to get an extra $1000 out of based on changes we reluctantly agreed to (found out later they had lied to us). Nothing promised materialized. We had originally picked this tour company and tour because of the description. We were to have early morning game drives and also, late afternoon game drives. This is when one's chances of seeing wildlife are best. There were no early morning or late afternoon game drives. They started at 9:30 am and ended by 3 or 3:30 pm. Usually 3pm.. Our guide was simply too lazy. Only day we had an early morning game drive was the last day because the guide wanted to get home early. Many things on that itinerary we hand picked never materialized, including paying for National Park entrances (they are not cheap) and never entering as stated we would. There were more things also. The list goes on and on. Our guide was a skilled driver but reckless with little regard for our safetly or that of others on the general roads or the roads in the parks. I don't scare easily but the thought did cross my mind several times that we were going to die on a Kenyan highway. At one point when another tour guide called him on his wreckless, unsafe, inconsiderate driving, our guide tried to punch him out! Guides are to tell their clients information about the parks they are in, the animals, etc. Our guide told us pretty much nothing all week. When the tour was over and we contacted the Pride of Africa about the things that we paid for that never materialized they at first ignored us, then they denied everything and then ignored us again. My husband and I refer to this company as "The Disgrace of Africa". Avoid them at all costs!!!!!
