Safari Overview

Home to a variety of wildlife, the Masai Mara is the one reserve where you can see all the “Big Five” mammals in a single morning. The Masai Mara stretches out over a flat grassy plain and is most famous for its annual migration of millions of wildebeest.

Photographic opportunities are endless. Many species of wildlife are comfortable with the game viewing vehicles and come up close for the perfect picture.

A visit to a hospitable Masai village gives your Masai Mara safari a cultural edge. The Masai live a traditional way of life in a “Manyatta”, living in simple mud covered straw huts. With over 500 species of bird life and open scenery, the Masai Mara should definitely form part of your Kenyan safari.

We will also visit Lake Nakuru, which is a very shallow and strongly alkaline lake 39 square miles in size. It is set in a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodlands and grasslands next to the town of Nakuru. The landscape includes areas of marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with forest on the eastern perimeter.

Safari Itinerary

After breakfast at 7:00am you will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi or place of staying and join the group you will travel with. You will depart at 8:00am for Masai Mara through the dramatic Great Rift Valley and have a stop at the view point to view the valley. After the stop you will drive to Masai Town known as Narok for Lunch. After lunch you proceed to Masai Mara arriving in time for evening game drive. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. The Mara Game Reserve – one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied, and easy to see. Residents among the Park’s are: Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland and thousand of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson’s and grants Gazelles.

Early morning breakfast and then you leave with packed lunch for the full day game viewing. Search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continue today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. Masai Mara remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the world. The reserve hosts the highest concentration of wild animals per sq. km than any other park in the region. You will have you will have your picnic lunch at Mara river with hippos and crocodile , Mara river is where the migration of wildebeest take place from Serengeti to Masai Mara, after lunch you will continue with the game drive until late in the evening. The scenic appeal of this tree studded savannah, its’ modest temperatures and diversity of wild game species makes the reserve a one stop shop for game viewing. We shall transverse the reserve on unlimited game viewing drives in search of the big five and more species of the lesser games. Dinner and overnight at Miti Mingi Tented Camp.

An early morning game drive upto 9:30am after which you will come back for full breakfast and then depart for Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley. After lunch an exciting game run is planned for the afternoon. The game in this Park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. The Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch. The bird life here is world renown and over 400 bird’s species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe.

Our day starts with an early breakfast followed a game drive where we can see hundreds of thousands of flamingos canopy the shallow edges of Lake Nakuru. Pelicans and hundreds of other bird species will be seen. Possible to see includes both the black and white rhino, lions, warthogs, antelopes, baboons and many other animals. We return to the Hotel before lunch, freshen up, enjoy lunch, check-out of our lodge/camp and depart for Nairobi road or will be dropped at a place of your choice. A leisurely scenic 2 Hour drive brings us to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon and you will be dropped at the airport at 5 pm.
